President's Message
As a long-time member of RMTA, I have had the privilege and opportunity
to participate in the organization first as a student in 1975, and then
later as a theatre artist and educator for the past twenty-five years. My
RMTA experiences provided excellent training in many aspects of theatre;
numerous employment opportunities; and also helped me to establish a
large network of theatre colleagues and friends spanning the five, Rocky
Mountain States. I first joined the RMTA Board of Directors in
1992 as Secretary, and have since served as Grants and Development Director,
Vice President, and Past President, and now am serving as Interim President
until February of 2009. I have also served as a co-host for two
RMTA conferences (2003 and 2008). In short, being involved with
RMTA over all these years has been challenging, gratifying, frustrating,
pleasing, and above, all, educational.
I encourage you to find
out what RMTA can do for you, and consider what you might be able to
do for RMTA. Be sure to join us at our next theatre festival hosted
by Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, in February, 2009. Find
out why hundreds of people travel over mountain ranges every year to
participate in RMTA’s annual conference. Consider offering
and/or attending informative workshops in all aspects of theatre, participate
in the competitions and take advantage of the employment opportunities. I’m
sure that you’ll be enlightened and entertained, and also have
the chance to meet people who are involved in the same challenge you
are: creating theatre in its myriad forms in the Rocky Mountain West.
